New for 2009 - Confident Horse Workshops

Treat yourself and your horse in 2009…

By invitation only to past participants of our Confident Rider Workshops Confident Horse is an exciting, fun, powerful and effective 3 day workshop, once again combining the excellent coaching and communication skills of Pete Doherty and Becky Chapman, created in response to demand and as a replacement to "Confident Rider Part 2

  • Learn - Powerful, Effective, Ecological and Ethical ground-work and ridden techniques to build a bond of trust and understanding between horse and handler / rider no gadgets, no escalation of pressure and no punishment.

  • Build - Mutual trust and respect with your equine partner.

  • Become - A more balanced, secure and reliable rider, able to positively influence your horse's carriage, outline, speed and direction.

  • Further develop your skills of - Relaxation, Focus, Concentration and Confidence, building on what you have already learned in Confident Rider.

  • AND - Meet up with other Confident Riderpast-participants (who share and understand your journey) and share one another's triumphs.

Confident Horse Workshop Format:

Day 1 –                                                                                                                                              

12pm - Settle horses, meet as a group in the classroom and lunch.
1pm - Learn & practice your ground-work skills with one another and your horse with Becky

5.30pm - Evening stables.           

6pm - Dinner.

6.30pm - 8.30pm - Group and individual sessions with Pete.

Day 2 - as Day 1.

N.B.  Becky breakfasts all horses at 7am when yard gates will be unlocked.  Workshops participants are welcome to use the arena to practice their learning, the classroom for discussion and / or join Becky for any hacks taking place.  Workshop participants may also book Simulator sessions during the morning of Day 2.  (Or enjoy and well earned lie-in!)

Day 3 – 8.30am - Group breakfast.                                                                          9am - Individual ridden and/or ground-work sessions (as appropriate) with Becky, all participants invited to observe.                                                                               1.30pm - Lunch and Dismounted Session with Becky and Pete.
3.30pm/4pm - Workshop ends.

Course Cost - £450 and includes;

  • 3Days coaching (more that 25 hours in total) with Becky and Pete.
  • Your lunch and dinner on Days 1 & 2 and your breakfast and lunch on Day 3.
  • D.I.Y. Livery* for the period of your workshop inc' shavings bedding.

£100 deposit secures your place, balance in stage payments.                                                   Please bring your horses hard-feed and hay**.                                                                                 * You may request your stable mucked-out for you - £10 per day extra.                                      ** We are happy to provide hay, at cost, if it is difficult for you to transport.

  • November 18th, 19th & 20th

Please note, numbers on this workshop are strictly limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, please reserve you space early to avoid disappointment.

Confident Horse Workshop Booking Form.

Booking procedure - Please print off and fill in this form, and send it with your £100 deposit (payable to "Confident Equestrian") to: The Course Organiser, Ashen E.C. Ashen, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 8JU.
If the workshop you have requested is fully booked we will contact you to re-schedule immediatelyand will refund your deposit in full if a suitable alternative date cannot be found.
The second stage payment of £100 will be invoiced and is payable 8 weeks prior to your workshop.
The third stage payment of £100 will be invoiced and is payable 4 weeks prior to your workshop.
The final balance of £150 will be payable on arrival at your workshop.              Participants who fail to turn-up for their workshop will be charged the full workshop fee.

PLEASE NOTE - An admin fee of £50 will be charged to participants requesting to reschedule and we will try to allocate your space to someone on the waiting list.  If we cannot re-fill your space you will be charged the full course fee.

Participants may stay on-site in their horseboxes or in the classroom (with toilet, shower, kitchenette and wireless broadband connection) £8 per night, payable during your stay.
